This exhibition is on view in Room 100 Gallery June 5 - June 23, 2018.
In 'Brought to Life', students use the language of the visual arts to reflect on their values, role models, and identities while on the verge of adulthood.
'Brought to Life' is the culminating exhibition of twenty weeks of artistic exploration between five Student U high school students and five Durham Art Guild artists.
About the Creative Mentorship Program:
The Creative Mentorship Program is a unique collaboration between the Durham Art Guild and Student U, a college-access organization in Durham that began in 2013
This special opportunity for high school students interested in the visual arts provides one-on-one mentoring with a Guild member artist for five months at Golden Belt art studios in Durham. Together, the student-mentor pairs create a collaborative art project of the student’s design and conception. Through the program, students learn the value of creative self-expression and how the visual arts can help them to process and communicate their ideas and experiences.Program participants also take monthly field trips to local arts institutions to meet other professional artists and learn about the vibrant arts community in the Triangle.
